BRENHAM MAN ARRESTED IN BRYAN AFTER CHASE

  

A Brenham man was arrested by Bryan police this morning after an extensive car chase that exceeded 95 miles per hour.

At 12:15 this (Thursday) morning, Bryan police responded to a report of an aggravated robbery.  The victim reported that 2 males drove up and asked for directions.  When he approached the vehicle, they got out and one of the occupants brandished a firearm and demanded his money.

As the officers were responding to the first robbery, another victim reported that she was approached by two males in a similar vehicle.  She stated that they brandished a firearm and demanded her money.

Officers spotted the vehicle and a high speed pursuit ensued with speeds exceeding 95 miles per hour on numerous streets and the bypass in Bryan.

Officers deployed spike strips on Business 21 and were able to flatten the tires and stop the fleeing vehicle.  The driver, 26 year old Katrell Dewyan (Dewayne) Lindsey of Brenham, was apprehended immediately.  He is charged with 2 counts of aggravated robbery, evading in a vehicle, and evading on foot.

The other occupant of the vehicle fled on foot into a nearby field.  A perimeter was set up and the DPS helicopter was dispatched to help locate the suspect.

He was located and arrested after a short search.  Deandre Lavan Phillips, age 29 of Bryan is charged with 2 counts of aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence, and evading on foot.

  1. Phillips is also from Brenham and both of these guys are not strangers to criminal behavior hopefully Brazos county can put them away for a long time since Washington Co hasn’t been able to
