A Brenham man has been charged with drug possession after a traffic stop Saturday night.

19-year old Eduardo Reyes-Ortiz of Brenham is charged with Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces and Possession of a Controlled Substance under 4 grams.

Around 9 p.m., Officer Jonathan Phipps pulled Reyes-Ortiz over in the 2400 block of Highway 105.

  1. Edit to my other comment: Just so you don’t get it confused, I am in no way defending the criminals that choose to steal to support their habits, because stealing is still wrong, and they should pay for that crime.I’m simply stating that if drugs were legal, they wouldn’t have to resort to stealing to support their habits most likely

    1. Right?! It really is all about the money now days. We’ve come to the realization that Cannabis and Psilocybin mushrooms aren’t bad, but “we the people” don’t have a say in whether they are legal or not. Some freedom. They can literally CURE cluster headaches for several months, but no one knows about that since the media feeds them propaganda.

    2. If you get off the dope long enough and have a reality check ? You might understand that this is a drug and it is illegal. Furthermore, all of you dope-heads better know that good law abiding citizens are sick and tired of your kind. We are tired of paying for your room service in jail and your repeat offenses. I will personally call the law on each and everyone of you I encounter. I will protect my property from robbery and burglary with lethal and deadly force. The best advice you can get is to get treatment before it is too late.

      1. Well to address your comment kind sir, Cannabis is not “dope”, that would be heroin, and Cannabis is nowhere close to being as dangerous as heroin. Yes it is illegal, and I completely understand that. Hmm… so you’re tired of paying for people like this to be in jail. Well if Cannabis were legal, you wouldn’t have so many of your taxpayer dollars going towards keeping repeat offenders in jail, because they wouldn’t be getting arrested in the first place for it, you see how it works? It would also be generating tons of revenue for the state, to be used appropriately. It’s closed minded people like you that make the world a worse place than it already is. I bet you enjoy a beer or two after a hard days work, am I right? If nature is illegal, freedom doesn’t exist. By the way, alcohol is a drug too. What exactly do potheads do to interrupt your life anyways?

      2. So are you out there protesting outside of the liquor stores??? or do you think alcohol is not a drug because it is “legal”. You know, society has evolved and most intelligent individuals have come to realization that marijuana is 100 times safer than alcohol. In fact, there is scientific and mathematical data to support this. (I understand you probably base your opinion on emotions and not actual data) So hate to break it to you sir but you need the reality check…or maybe at least a decent education.

      3. You do realize that you contradicted yourself right? You said you hate paying to house them in jail, but would love to call the cops and put them in jail. Last I checked I have yet to meet a person out stealing cause they are a pot head. I say legalize it, collect revinue from the taxes, and it will cut taxes by less inmates.

        1. Reasonable; Not sure where u r living if u r under a rock or what but the jails are full of thieves that have been burglarizing and stealing to pay for their drug habit because most dope heads or drug addicts can’t hold a job so when u say u have not met a dope head that steals I bet u r not being very truthful because at least 90% of dope heads or drug addicts steal to be able to maintain their habit, go to the jail and speak to an ex dope head or drug addict they will admit it if they are truly reformed. U say marijuana isn’t bad well all it does is lead to more serious drugs because eventually marijuana doesn’t do for them what they r looking for and they graduate to meth, crack or other deadlier drugs !!!
Next time do ur research before making such a statement; I have!!

          1. Well I can tell you one thing, there’s no such thing as a pothead who steals to support their habit. Maybe there is, but versus meth and crack addicts, the number is very low. Do you know why exactly drug addicts can’t hold jobs…? Because drugs are illegal. Maybe if they were legal and properly regulated in the first place, you wouldn’t have to admit that you’re a convicted felon to obtain help for said drug addiction. Unless you go to rehab willingly (which lets not joke around here, what drug addict would do that), getting arrested for possession is the only way that these addicts can get help in order to get clean. Do you see how backwards it is? I mean it’s like I’m talking to a brick wall anyways. As for your gateway drug argument, that’s also false for the most part. Sure, a lot of addicts did start with cannabis, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it didn’t cut it for them, it could mean they were looking for a different kind of high all together, or they just wanted to try a different drug. It does open up ones curiosity to doing other drugs, simply because they think, “Oh, well weed isn’t so bad, maybe meth isn’t either.”, however, that’s probably not the mentality a lot of people have about meth, because they do their research, and find out that it’s actually harmful to you in the long run. Maybe you should research just a little bit more Fd, and come back when you have. Just keep believing the lies the media tells you. Think for yourself, question authority.
