A Brenham man has been inducted into the National MS Society’s Fundraising Hall of Fame.

Michael Brinkmeyer, who reached his goal of raising $100,000 on behalf of BP MS150 in July, was inducted with fifteen other fundraisers into the Fundraising Hall of Fame on November 17th.

Brinkmeyer has been a long-time participant in the BP MS 150, a bicycle ride from Houston to Austin to raise money for research into a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. In addition to the MS150, Brinkmeyer also hosts the annual “Putt2Cure MS” mini-golf tournament at Horseshoe Junction in Brenham. Brinkmeyer was initially inspired to raise money for their daughter, Candice, who was diagnosed with MS in December of 2003.

Kelli Dreiling, associate vice president of Bike MS, says the organization is grateful for Brinkmeyer’s passion and commitment to help create a world free of MS.

More than 12,000 cyclists are expected to raise $16 million to stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and end MS forever at the 33rd Annual BP MS 150 Houston to Austin Bike Ride on April 29-30, 2017. The BP MS 150 is the largest fundraising event for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the largest fundraiser for MS research in the world. To date, the two-day bike ride has raised more than $240 million to change the world for 2.3 million people affected by MS.
