BRENHAM MAN KILLED IN OVERNIGHT ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 290
A Brenham man is dead and three people are injured after a head-on collision on Highway 290 last (Tuesday) night.
The accident occurred around 11:00 p.m. in the 11,100 block of 290 West, near FM-1948, about two-and-a-half miles east of Burton.
According to the Department of Public Safety, 48-year old James Valdez of Brenham was killed when his 2007 Toyota Camry struck a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup head-on.
The DPS report says Valdez was travelling in the wrong direction on 290 when the accident occurred.
The driver of the pickup, 50-year old Stephen Hatfield and a 17-year old passenger were each taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan. A 13-year old in Hatfield’s pickup was taken to Herman Hospital in Houston.
The DPS continues its investigation into the cause of the accident.
