Brenham Police recently completed participating in their second “WAVE” grant funded by the Texas Department of Transportation.

The grant provides funding for officers to work overtime to focus on reducing drunk driving. Four specific “wave” periods are part of the grant – this one focused on Spring Break.

As part of the grant activities, the department also emphasizes education.

Officers have visited both the junior high and high school during the grant enforcement period to stress to students the dangers of drinking and driving.

Four arrests for DWI were made during the STEP WAVE period which ran from March 6-22.
