  1. Smoking pot has to be taxing the lungs, brain, stomach & heart. Who has time to waste doing such a deplorable hobby?

  2. Pathetic waste of money arresting children on marijuana charges. Now none of them will quality for financial aid to go to college. So glad i moved to Houston where officers gice you tickets for the crime. Smh

    1. Glad you left. Houston is a war zone compared to Brenham partly because the laws on the books relating to drugs are not being enforced. Enjoy your time in H town but when you grow up and become a responsible adult who doesn’t smoke drugs you can move back to the country.

    2. So these kids should be able to smoke pot, but not work and put themselves through school like so many of us did?

Yeah, I’m glad you moved to Houston too.

  3. Like most of mainstream media portrayals of marijuana, this article has an implied bias towards drug enforcement priorities and crime deterrence. The common perception that mainstream media wants you to have is that it’s a waste of money to stop this drug. That marijuana is a harmless drug and that if anything, it just makes one docile and passive. Sure it does. But like all leftist attitudes, it’s about pleasing the short term wants of people to create a culture of government dependence and in turn, heightened government authority and control.
If you want a 75% increase in absenteeism at your work place, increased rates of welfare dependence, increased rates of high school and college drop outs due to lethargy, and increased rates of meth and crack dependency then a society of potheads is for you. All the while property taxes, sales taxes, medical costs and the burden of the non pothead to pickup the slack go up at work and at home to pay for pothead lifestyles.
If you want to legalize pot, legalize all the drugs and completely cut all social and medical services related to drug use so we can cull the heard. Then invest in crematoriums.

  4. I am a BIB ( Born in Brenham ) and darn proud of it! People move to our small town because they are trying to get away from the drugs and the rat-race of big city life. I salute our police force and are glad they do all they can to stop the drug usage in Brenham. And to those that don’t like it, no one says you have to stay in Brenham.

  5. The Tx state house currently working on bill that will reduce the burden of costs to taxpayers on small amount poseessions by tagging it a misdemeanor with a $250.00 fine backed by the bench. Best solution for all, contact your reps and tell them to pass.

  6. I think theres a better place to smoke marijauna….its called Houston. Yeah Blinn College is out of control with illegal drug use

    1. I agree this is happening everyday with Blinn students and parents money is being wasted while they are out doing things that they know is a crime well they should do the time. If cops don’t do anything about then Brenham and Blinn will be known as slackers.

  7. This is a waste of money smh , legalize it already, worry about real crime and benefit both financially and medically from it.

  8. Good. All young people need to start off adulthood with a “drug charge” on their record. That will greatly help their future ability to get a decent job and contribute to society. Marijuana should not be treated like heroin. Ask a police officer sometime if they have ever been to a domestic violence call where those involved had only been smoking pot. I have not found one yet.

    1. I’m sorry that they’re in this situation, but they made these choices. If they didn’t want a drug charge on their record, they should have made a different choice. I don’t know whether marijuana should be legalized or not, but the fact remains that it IS illegal now, and they all knew, or should have known. We have to obey the laws as they are, not as we’d like them to be.

  9. Its a shame how much money is wasted arresting people for marijuana. Something really needs to change.

    1. Sounds like they are all Blinn students. Blinn needs to get a little more strict about who they admit into the college, or at least put in a policy where if a student gets arrested for drugs multiple times they are kicked out! Makes the town look bad!

      1. I TOTALLY agree with your comment “Backer of the Blue”
We have a wonderfully beautiful town and community and our officials need to continue keeping a tight reign on this problem being brought to our town.
From our Senior Citizens to our Nursery Schools need to feel safe and protected living here.
        I LOVE living in Brenham!

    2. you are a BIB … Get with the times. Marijuana has so many benefits. I think k the police need to go after the real “druggies” in this town. The crack heads. The meth heads. There are PLENTY of those everywhere. Now the kids that are in the park smoking are not the brightest in the bunch but Mariana needs to be decriminalized and will be soon!
