BRENHAM POLICE INVESTIGATING ATTEMPTED CHILD ABDUCTION

The Brenham Police Department is investigating an attempted child abduction that took place Tuesday evening.  The incident occurred in front of the First Baptist Church at about 7:45 pm while a concert was taking place inside the church.  Several children were outside in front of the church playing by the sign along North Market Street, when a white, older model 4 door passenger car with chipped paint, pulled up alongside the children.  A male occupant of the vehicle called out to one of the children to get in the car with him because he had a puppy inside that she could pet. The children ran inside the church and told their parents and the pastor about what happened.

The male occupant of the vehicle is described as a middle aged male, with medium complexion, a mustache, missing several teeth, and his remaining teeth were described as yellow.  Brenham Police Officers were notified and searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

The Brenham Police Department is asking parents to remind their children not to get into a vehicle with anyone they do not know, and if someone does approach them, to notify a parent, guardian, teacher, or any other adult that they do know.  Those adults that are notified are asked to contact the Brenham Police Department.  If you have any information that would lead to the identification of this person, you are asked to call the Brenham Police Department at (979) 337-7337 if it is between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  If it is outside of regular business hours, please contact Washington County Dispatch at (979) 337-7272.

  1. If I caught someone attempting to coerce my children into their vehicle; the person or persons should feel fortunate if they are still conscious by the time the police show up. I know all of my friends would be the same.
