BRENHAM POLICE INVESTIGATING WEEKEND THEFTS

  

Brenham Police are investigating several thefts from over the weekend.

50-year old Tommy Nelson Smith is accused of stealing a number of tools from WalMart, at the 200 Block of US Hwy 290 West.

Saturday morning, just before 2:00, Officer Sierra Newell was called out to WalMart.

A short time later, Newell said she observed Smith on the 290 frontage road…Smith matched the description given at Wal Mart.

Newell says Smith ran across Hwy 290 and into the grassy area between Knight’s Inn and St Joseph’s clinic – he was located and arrested a short time later.

The tools were recovered near where Smith was arrested.

He is charged with Theft of property with two previous convictions.

Friday morning, Corporal Tommy Kurie responded to the 1800 Block of Lakeview Dr., in reference to a theft.

The caller reported that between 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, and 7:30 a.m. Friday, someone stole a Kubota excavator 12” bucket valued at approximately $1,600.00.

There are no suspects at this time.   The Investigation continues.

Early Saturday morning, Officer Ashley Burns responded to the Family Dollar in the 600 Block of S. Market St. to a reported theft.

The caller reported that two women took two shopping carts full of merchandise out of the store without paying.

The incident was captured on video and a license plate was also obtained from the suspect vehicle.

No arrests have yet been made.  The investigation continues.
