BRENHAM STUDENTS TO ATTEND INAUGURATION TODAY
A group of Brenham students are in Washington D.C. today (Friday) to attend the 58th Presidential Inauguration.
The group, led by Brenham Middle School teacher Ben Lewis, consists of 13 students from the middle school, junior high, and high school.
Lewis says he came across the opportunity to attend the inauguration when he was working with Education First (EF) Educational Tours.
The trip has been in the works since last May, and includes visits to Capitol Hill, the White House, Mt. Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Smithsonian.
Each student paid their own way to the inauguration and several parents are in attendance as well. Lewis says since they've been in D.C., the group has been interviewed at least six times by news media.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to get underway today at 11 a.m. KWHI will carry the inauguration ceremonies live with Rush Limbaugh starting at 10:55 a.m.
What a once in a lifetime opportunity for these students! How were these students chosen to attend the inauguration?
