BRENHAM SUDDENLINK OFFICE “TEMPORARILY” CLOSED

It didn’t take long for Suddenlink Communications to close their local Brenham office after getting approval from the Brenham City Council.

During Thursday afternoon’s City Council meeting, Thomas Way, Director of Operations for Suddenlink’s Bryan office, told councilmembers the local Brenham office would remain open until December 31st of this year, when their lease expires.  December 31st was also the date given in Way’s official written request to the City for permission to close the local office.  But Friday morning Suddenlink customers were greeting by a sign reading, “Effective August 5th, this office is temporarily closed.  Please call 888-822-5151 for sales, technical support and account services including payments. We apologize for any inconvenience.”  This was less than 24 hours after the City Council voted to amend the cable company’s franchise agreement to eliminate the requirement that Suddenlink maintain a local office in Brenham.  Brenham’s cable TV system has had an office in downtown Brenham since the system was built in 1971.

Brenham City Manager Terry Roberts says he received an email Friday morning from Way explaining that the only remaining office person in Brenham had resigned, prompting the immediate closure of the office.  Way said in his email that he plans to utilize one of the many office staff members from his Bryan office to run the Brenham office.  However, Way did not give a date as to when it would re-open, saying that all of his personnel are busy with A&M students moving into housing for the fall semester.  Roberts says he intends to remind Way that the students who attend Blinn College in Brenham will also be moving into their apartments and houses shortly.

  1. Go to Channel Master .com and order an antennae and mast, cancel the cable……save yourself over $1000 each year. I get about 50 channels out here in Chappell Hill with a 30 foot mast and antennae. Cable is history anyway. I worked at KWHI when Tom Whitehead, Sr. built the cable system in Brenham.
