  1. I think most of the family members feel that you can’t desplen there children’s because child abuse so a lot of time they are s care to do anything with them it’s your word against theirs so if they can’t control them they look for the the ones who made the law to control them because when I grew up the many spaking I got for a reason made me a better person today more respectful to my alders I have six brother and four sisters and Thanks to the man above we are all still living and working and still respectful we all late forth and up and my lovely mom to this day gets all of the love and respect from her children for teaching us right from wrong and what you can and what you can’t do my dad passed 2006 he was a good day we all respect the both other while he whould be trouble in the camp just little thought thanks for the ones who read it

  2. Look to the source. Drug dealers are running shop all over Brenham with impunity these days. Call the P.D. and complain!!! Local cops are good at catching users but i think we are too methodical about busting dealers. Its not neccessarry to “slow walk” every case or appease the Feds who seem to vicariouly creep arund every sheriffs office in
America . We should resolve to demand more alacrity in response to how we react. This kid should cooperate and the police should quickly respond by going to his drug dealers home and dragging the scumbag off to jail.

  3. The school system is doing it’s job.
You do drugs, you don’t play.
We have school teachers and administrators and coaches doing too much of what parents should be doing anyway, taking them away from being able to actually teach those students who WANT to learn and DO abide by the rules.
If they haven’t learned by high school that drugs are ILLEGAL, in fact, even if not in their own mind, what you are suggesting won’t have any affect either.
A drug class for first and SECOND OFFENDERS, but keep them on the team. What moral message are you sending to those who DO abide the rules ?
The victims here are the majority that do right.

  4. I think its time for the school system of BISD and parents to come together and come up with a way to fight the teenage drug use in this town. Our athletic Director does nothing to help these kids when they do get in trouble. By suspending them for a year does nothing to help them but fuel them to continue the use. By being suspended for that long some have no chance to participate in sports anymore so they have no reason to not work on stopping the use other than there parents working diligently to get them help. As a parent of a student that this happened to my young adult had no help or guidance to not do drugs anymore but our continued relentless time of trying. My young adult suffered from depression from medicine she was taking and thought this was the way to make the bad things go away. Maybe if we had a group that could look into these problems and evaluate them before handing down such harsh punishment to them . They are young adults learning and making mistakes along the way. Our local collage has such a system I see no reason our school system could not have one also.Maybe if we offered a drug class for these 1st and 2nd time offenders instead of kicking them to the curb for a year (Mr. AD) then we might can get a hold on our Teen drug use in our school! I would be glad to serve on this board!! Something has to be done!! Brenham PD can not do it alone!!

    1. First of all, I am so sorry for what you are goung through. I have two teenagers and a preteen. It is hard!! I don’t know if classes should be offered. We can only ask our school district and staff to do so much. If a kid wants to be involved with the drug scene, they need more than what a school district can offer. I agree that the drug problem in our schools is out of control. However, I don’t want my kids exposed to it. If a student is caught with drugs, it should be zero tolerance. There are facilities, programs, and classes that our youth can attend to get the whole body help they need. Growing up these days is so hard. Our kids are exposed to so much they shouldn’t be starting at a young age. In my opinion, the starting point to clean up the drug problem is to keep the offenders out. You and your family will be in my prayers. God bless you.

    2. I totally agree with you .iAthletics department has its favorites over the years I seen good talent never giving the opportunity to play . And I seen Athletics Dept.
Have the opportunity to help these young students and choices to not help them when are young athletics makes a mistake
I’m not pointing the finger at
I’m just saying Are school can make a difference
And come up with some kinda class to help these young students or the community to help these young aldults get the help so needed in brenham .

    3. Schools have the reasonability to teach children Math, Science, etc, Parents have the reasonability of teaching their children about Not using Drugs. It is not now , Nor has it ever been a school responsibility to raise children.

      1. We have programs in our community to help teach kids wisdom and good decision making. They are called church and Sunday school. Some who attend may still go astray. It’s the Truth of God’s Word that is missing today. It also has to be taught at home. It’s been replaced with TV, music, and pop culture. Do parents have any idea what lyrics their children are listening to all day? And then we wonder why they keep making poor decisions.

        1. I think they keep making bad decisions for a couple of simple reasons; they are young and inexperienced, and they learn by example, i.e., they see that many adults ignore laws they don’t like. Phenomena such as endemic speeding erodes respect for all laws, and it seems hypocritical, at best, to tell kids marijuana is illegal is here, but across that imaginary stateline, it isn’t. Passing unenforceable laws has long been known to erode public support for other laws, and the so-called Drug War has consistently demonstrated this for 30+ years.

    4. Dear concerned parent,

If your child has been suspended for a year, it is not your child’s first offense. Our Athletic Director does more than any AD in the surrounding districts. Would you like for him to come into your home and take responsibility for your child? I’m not sure he has the man power, but quite certain he couldn’t do it without objection. It is NOT the school or the Athletic director’s responsibility to raise children, although they do their best to help and provide support for those who may not have the parental support at home. Why are you blaming the school? Or the Athletic department? Did you give up your parental rights?
If a child does not take responsibility for his/her actions after the first time, they deserve to sit out a year. Why would we give an “athlete” the attention if they cannot follow the rules? It’s not even just school rules, but public law! If you can’t get it together within 20 days and 100 miles, you do not deserve to represent this district and play sports. Those positions are reserved for students with respect and academic responsibility.
If you feel, as a parent, that the school is responsible then you, as a parent, have completely failed your child. YOU are responsible. And YOU and your child should accept and face the consequences.
What would happen if you sat out your dilenquent child’s fine? Would you sing a different tune? Just a thought.
