Coach Roy Thibodeaux says, “The guys at the top spots have been solid all year and continue to get better at doubles. We were down 2-5 after the doubles which really put us in a tough spot heading into the singles, however the guys really responded well by sweeping the singles.”
Winning at #1 was Dalton Barron 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. #2 boys singles Nick Summerour won 7-6 (7-4), 0-6 (10-8 super tie-breaker). Winning at #3 was Aren Holt 6-4, 6-4. At #4 boys singles Spencer Flynn won 6-2, 6-4. At the #5 spot Gunnar Smith won 6-4, 6-3. In #6 boys singles Andrew Trostle won 6-1, 6-3.
“I was pleased with the overall performance of each player and how well we competed,” said Thibodeaux. “It just stings a little to lose the close ones, but we will get back to work on the courts and get better.”
The Cubs’ next match will be on Sept 27th at Willis.
