BRENHAM TENNIS FALLS TO MAGNOLIA WEST

The Brenham High School tennis team fell to Magnolia West last night by the score of 4 to 15 in the season opener.

"We are a little bit rusty now, but everyone is working hard and we are going to get better," said Coach Roy Thibodeaux.

Highlights of the match were winning at the #1 boys doubles were Nick Summerour and Aren Holt 6-1, 6-3.  "They played a solid match coming out strong in the first set and keeping up the momentum throughout the 2nd set," said Thibodeaux.

Winning in the #2 boys doubles were Gunnar Smith and Spencer Flynn 6-3, 6-3.  They played very well together staying consistent and making their shots when it counted.

Winning in boys #2 singles was Aren Holt 6-2, 6-4.  "Aren kept up the momentum and played a solid singles match.  He was very consistent and played very hard."

Thomas Luna won at the #6 singles spot 9-7 in a pro-set.  "I was very impressed with the effort Thomas put into that match," said Thibodeux. " He was down 4-7 at one point and won 5 straight games to win the set.  He never gave up and pulled out the win.  That's the mind set of our team, we never give up and play hard until the very end."

"I was very proud of the effort everyone gave and I'm looking forward to next week when we take on Waller."
