BRENHAM TENNIS FALLS TO TOMBALL

The Brenham tennis team fell to Tomball 10-5, Tuesday at the Brenham Tennis Courts.

Securing wins for the Cubs were #1 boys doubles Aren Holt/Nick Summerour 8-4.  #2 Boys doubles Dalton Barron/Gunnar Smith 8-6.  #2 boys singles Dalton Barron 6-3, 3-6, (10-3 super tie-breaker).  #5 Boys singles Gunnar Smith 6-3, 7-5.  On the girls side, #1 girls doubles Kaitlyn Hamilton/Karlie Weidemann 8-4.

Coach Roy Thibodaux said, “We won some good matches in some spots, however we just could not string enough together.”

“I think Dalton, Nick, and Gunnar played as well as I have ever seen them play in singles.  Those were some good wins against good players.  Karlie and Kaitlyn played very well in doubles, and even had to come from behind to get the win.  Everyone is competing hard and doing the right things, but unfortunately we are not getting rewarded for it in the win columns.”

We have to just keep working hard,” said Thibodeaux, “and keep out minds sharp, ‘cause tennis is 90% mental and the other half is physical.” (An homage to the late Yogi Berra).

Brenham will host Waller next Tuesday at 4:00.
