BRENHAM TENNIS TEAM NETS WIN OVER HUNTSVILLE
The Brenham tennis team defeated Huntsville Tuesday night by the score of 13-6.
Winning for the Cubs in boys doubles were #1 Dalton Barron and Nick Summerour 6-1, 7-5. #2 Aren Holt and Thomas Luna 6-1, 6-0, and #3 Gunnar Smith and Andrew Trostle 6-0, 6-0.
Winning in girls doubles were #1 Katie Murski and Katelyn Dyer 6-1, 6-0.
"After the doubles we were up 4-3 and in a good spot leading into the singles,” said Coach Roy Thibodeaux. “Our confidence was high and it showed in the singles."
Winning for the girls in singles were #1 Abby Figueroa 6-0, 6-1. #2 Katie Murski 6-1, 6-0, and #5 Lindsey Blackburn 6-1, 6-0.
Thibodeaux said, "The girls have been doing a great job and getting better each week. I was impressed how well they played."
The boy singles swept the Hornets with dominating play. Winning for the Cubs were #1 Dalton Barron 6-0, 6-3. #2 Nick Summerour 6-3, 6-4. #3 Aren Holt 6-3, 6-2. #4 Gunnar Smith 7-5, 6-0. #5 Thomas Luna 6-3, 6-0. #6 Wilson Upchurch 4-6, 6-1 (10-8 super tie-breaker).
"I was very proud how we bounced back from losing last week to Willis and this is great momentum leading into our last regular season match against Magnolia on Oct 11th," said Thibodeaux.
