BRENHAM TO USE REAL ESTATE COMPANY TO SELL LANDFILL SITE

Assistant Brenham City Manager Kyle Dannhaus told the City Council at today’s (Thursday’s)  meeting that  he and the city staff have been trying to follow their dictates and sell the 205 acres the city once intended to use as a landfill for several years.  Dannhaus says a change in the state law now allows the city to hire a real estate company for marketing, listing and possible sale of the land.

Dannhaus says this could be very beneficial to the city and the Council agreed.  They approved a Farm and Ranch Real Estate Listing Agreement with Hodde Real Estate Company.

The city first got a permit for the landfill site almost 30years ago but was never actually used as a landfill. Several years ago the City Council allowed the permit to expire.

The tract has road frontage on two sides making it convenient to sell without making internal improvements to the property.
