BRENHAM WOMAN KILLED BY WRONG-WAY DRIVER

  

A Brenham woman is dead after her vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver on U.S. 290 late Wednesday afternoon.

31-year old Vickie Mays of Brenham was killed when her car was struck by a driver going the wrong way on 290 just before 5:00 Wednesday.

According to the Waller County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call about a driver going the wrong way on 290, near Sorsby Road just west of Hempstead at 4:55 Wednesday afternoon.  Less than a minute later they received the report of the head-on collision.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Mays’ body was taken to Lewis Funeral Home in Brenham, where funeral arrangements are pending.

  5. I had the pleasure of working with Vicki the last couple of years through her work with Adult Protective Services. Vicki was a caring, sweet and professional young woman. You could tell that she truly cared about the elderly people that she worked with and wanted what was best for them! She will be missed. May God’s love be with her family.
