31-year old Vanessa Cardenas Martin of Brenham was convicted on four separate charges: Exploitation of the Elderly and Forgery involving the Elderly from an arrest in March of this year; and Exploitation of the Elderly and Credit Card Abuse from her arrest this past April.

According to Assistant District Attorney Eric Berg, Martin was a home healthcare provider for a local woman and reportedly stole her card and ran up a number of charges.

The thefts were discovered by the woman’s husband who was going over his wife’s credit chard charges.

Judge Carson Campbell sentenced Martin to four years on each charge to run concurrently.  She must also make over $2,300 in restitution.
