BRETT SCHROEDER PROMOTED TO C-SHIFT CAPTAIN

  

The Brenham Fire Department has promoted Brett Schroeder to the position of C-Shift Captain.  Brett has been an active member of the department since 2001 and was hired on full-time as an Apparatus Operator in 2003 and over a period of years he advanced to an Apparatus Operator II.  He is also, an active member of the Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department in Washington County.

Brett has worked on C-Shift, which handles the fleet maintenance of this department.  He has been in charge of the small engines, which he’s constantly under pressure to maintain & repair department trucks to protect the Community.  Brett has played a key role since 2006 with the designing team of creating and drawing the department's new fire trucks.  In addition, he has traveled to the plant to oversee the building process from scratch to finish making sure every detail and safety mechanism, is precise.

Brett has served on our Training Committee since 2003 which promotes safety among department members and throughout Washington County’s local responders.  He also is an instructor at the Brenham’s Annual Fire Fighting Training School.  He also helps assist with cooking in the department fundraisers, Retiree Social & other volunteer FD fundraisers.

Throughout his career, Brett has received certifications in Basic Wildland Firefighter, Advanced Firefighter, Fire Officer I and II, Fire Service Instructor I, Emergency Vehicle Technician and Hurst Jaws of Life Preventative Maintenance Service Training.  In addition, he has accomplished the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Seal, Hazmat Operations & Firefighter I and II.  Also, earning the State Fireman’s and Fire Marshals’ Association Advanced Accredited Certification.

In 2014, Brett was named BFD’s Fire Fighter of the Year.  To receive this honor you must demonstrate professionalism, leadership, dedication and hardworking ethics.  The honored individual is voted on by the entire department.

Brett will supervise personnel on C-Shift, assigning and reviewing work, training, conducting performance reviews, maintains fire station, responds to emergencies, assists with preparation of reports, fire prevention functions & various administrative duties.

Raised in Brenham, Brett is a 2000 graduate of Brenham High School and a 2001 graduate of TEEX Fire Academy. He is married to his wife, Jennifer and they have their beloved Cocker Spaniel dog, Rodee.  They are a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.  In his spare time, he works for his family owned business, Yoakum House Moving and enjoys DJ’ing at special events.   Brett serves on the Washington County Fair Trail Ride Committee and from 2000-2014 was an assistant Wagon Boss for the Salt Grass Trail Ride.

Fire Chief, Ricky Boeker said, Brett has worked very hard to reach this point in the advancement of his career.  We will greatly benefit from the training and experience that he will bring into his new leadership Captain position.
