A Brenham Cubs baseball standout is being honored by the Houston Area Baseball Coaches Association.
Cubs’ pitcher Dakota Brewton has been named to the All Greater Houston Preseason Baseball Team by the coaches.
Brewton was 7-2 last season with a 2.56 earned run average and 56 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched, with a WHIP of 1.22.
Brewton will be one of the players honored at the annual Hot Stove Banquet, Thursday, January 30th at Constellation Field in Sugarland.
Also honored will be: Tucker Cascadden, Lamar; Matt Collins, Houston Memorial; Kaleb Denny, Barbers Hill; Aaron Fletcher, Langham Creek; Reid Garrett, Richmond Foster; Stone Garrett, George Ranch; Jaylen Hubbard, Dulles; Travis Jones, Atascocita; Corbin Martin, Cypress Ranch; Michael Rodgers, St. Thomas; Ricky Salinas, North Shore; Luke Sherley, The Woodlands; John Henry Styles, Houston Episcopal; Trey Supak, La Grange; and, Connor Wong, Pearland.
The guest speakers are former Astros’ great “The Toy Cannon” Jimmy Wynn and former big leaguer and Sugarland Skeeters’ manager Gary Gaetti.
