BRIDGE ON 36 NORTH LOOP TO BE DEMOLISHED NEXT WEEK

The northbound bridge on the State Highway 36 loop in Brenham is scheduled to be demolished beginning next week.

The bridge over the BNSF railroad is not being used, as both lanes of traffic has been diverted to the new southbound bridge. Beginning Monday, the Texas Department of Transportation contract will alternate closing Burleson Street and Lounge Road at the Highway 36 underpass. The closures will begin each morning at 8:30, but both Burleson Street and Lounge Road will be reopened by the end of each day. The daily closures are expected to continue through October 27th.

The bridge demolition is part of a $14.3 million project to widen Highway 36 to a four-lane divided highway between US 290 West and Business 36 in Brenham.
