A Bryan dog breeder has been arrested after police say he sold people diseased puppies and refused to pay for needed veterinary care.

According to Bryan police, 52-year old John Adam Chavarria was arrested after authorities received complaints from at least three people.

Chavarria is accused of selling sick puppies, not honoring written adoption contracts and swindling customers out of their money.

The victims claim puppies purchased from Chavarria suffered  a slew of ailments including: worms, intestinal diseases, hip dysplasia, fleas and ear mites.

The owners also said they did not receive American Kennel Club paperwork as promised, and certain dogs did not come vaccinated or microchipped, which was also promised.

One woman said she had given Chavarria $800 for a puppy, but was told by the breeder that the dog had been run over and killed. She said she never received a refund.

Chavarria was arrested earlier this year for three counts of animal hoarding.

Chavarria is being held in the Brazos County Jail on $18,000 bond.

  1. Thanks for acting so quickly on the reports. I HOPE that isn’t all that’s done. Please don’t let him have anymore dogs or puppies
