BRYAN WOMAN DROWNS WHILE TRYING TO SAVE SON

A Bryan woman is dead after a weekend drowning while trying to save her son at Matagorda Beach.

According to the Matagorda County Sheriff's Office, 36-year-old Jennie Jackson was on the beach about a quarter-of-a-mile east of the jetties when she reportedly tried to save her teen-aged son.

When authorities arrived on scene, they said two men were pulling Jackson from the surf and onto the beach.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, two other men pulled Jackson's 16-year-old son from the surf.

Authorities say he was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where he has since been released.

  1. This is a story all of us parents can relate to. If our child is in any sort of trouble we will try to save them, even if it costs us our life.
