BRYAN WOMAN KILLED IN BRAZOS COUNTY COLLISION

  

A Bryan woman is dead following a head-on collision in Brazos County, Monday night.

53-year old Maria Canelaria Ramirez was killed when her SUV was struck head-on by an alleged drunk driver Monday night on Highway Six near Tabor Road.

46-year old Robert Spurger, also of Bryan, has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

According to authorities, Ramirez was exiting Highway Six at the Tabor Road exit, when her vehicle was struck head-on by Spurger, who was traveling in the wrong direction.

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.  Spurger was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment.

Lanes in both directions of Highway 6 were closed for more than five hours.
