The Brenham State Supported Living Center will have a new leader by September first.
Iva Benson has been chosen as the new director of the Center, the largest employer in Washington County.
Officials with the Center say Benson has more than 40 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
She began her career in direct care at the Richmond SSLC, eventually serving as director of residential services.
She was then served as assistant director of programs at the Lubbock SSLC, then joined the state office as director of operations.
She later took the role of director of the Corpus Christi Center and has also served as interim director of the Centers in Mexia and El Paso.
Most recently, she has been serving as the statewide program and residential services coordinator.
Benson will succeed Natalie Montalvo, who is retiring at the end of August.
