Buccaneers roll past Coastal Bend for 20th win, 95-55

BEEVILLE, Texas – Blinn College women’s basketball showed off all of its balance in having all 14 players score at least a point in a convincing 95-55 victory over Coastal Bend College Feb. 28 in Beeville.

Shakera Barnes led the Buccaneers with 12 points while Alexus Freeman, Jeliah Preston and Moe Bedford each had 10 points. Katelynn Johnson scored nine points while Brianna Luton, Chant Lewis and Nancy Warioba each had eight points to help Blinn improve its conference record to 13-7 and 20-10 overall.

Blinn started off a little slow from the beginning but was able to turn it on enough to lead 47-30 at the half.

The offense picked it up in the second half as the Buccaneers cruised to the victory in the second half.

The win gives the Buccaneers their 20th win and now they finish the season tied for third in the conference.

“Winning 20 games doesn’t happen every year,” said Blinn coach Jeff Jenkins. “We lost a lot of offense from last year and to win 20 games it big.”

Blinn will next play face Bossier Parish Community College in the Region XIV tournament March 4 at 8 p.m. in Jacksonville.
