With the win, the Buccaneers have now won six consecutive games and improve to 11-5 overall and 5-2 in Region XIV play.

Ke’Asia Williams tied a game-high for Blinn with 16 points and reached double figures in rebounds for a double-double. Jade Rochelle also scored 16 for the Buccaneers. Daikea Milton reached double figures with 10 points, Bryanna Taylor chipped in nine while Jasmine Redmond and Brenisha Coleman each scored seven in the win.

Blinn played a strong game throughout but had a hard time creating distance on the scoreboard from Coastal Bend. The Buccaneers only led 19-18 after the first quarter and then extended it slightly at 39-35 at the half.

It was more of the same in the second half, except it was Coastal Bend outscoring Blinn in both quarters of the second half. Coastal Bend outscored Blinn 12-11 in the third and 16-15 in the fourth but the Buccaneers were able to hold on for the hard-fought victory.

Blinn will next play at home on Saturday, Jan. 14 against Victoria College at 2 p.m.

The game against Victoria will be the Adam’s Angels Ministry fundraiser game in which Blinn raises money and awareness for Adam’s Angels. Adam’s Angels Ministry is called to provide care and comfort for families that are in a battle against childhood cancer. The fundraising effort is part of Blinn’s Adopt-a-Charity program in which all Blinn athletic programs dedicate a portion of their gate proceeds towards a charity.
