“It felt great for the team to come together and get the win,” said Alanna Spencer, who led the Buccaneers’ offense with 18 points. “Hopefully we can build off of this and continue to win.”

All of Spencer’s points came from six three-pointers to lead Blinn. Jade Rochelle was next with 15 points and Aaliyah Holmes followed with eight points.

With the win, Blinn improves to 10-11 overall.

Kayla Konarik led the Buccaneers in the opening quarter with two shots from downtown for Blinn to take an early 16-0 lead. It wasn’t until there was 1:43 left in the first period that the Lady Wranglers scored their first two points of the game. Spencer sunk a three-pointer for Blinn to pull ahead 19-2 and Rochelle made a free throw for Blinn to hold a 20-8 lead after the first quarter.

Blinn opened the second quarter with a 5-0 run, while holding Cisco scoreless for over five minutes. Spencer and Holmes each hit shots from outside to keep Blinn ahead 33-15. Cisco scored the final points of the quarter to trail Blinn 33-17 into the halftime.

The hot-shooting Buccaneers came into the third quarter with a 6-0 run as Holmes and Spencer took care of business behind the three-point line. Spencer led Blinn with six points in the quarter and closed it out with a three-pointer for Blinn to lead 50-30 into the fourth quarter.

The Buccaneers offense slowed down in the final quarter, but Cisco never came more than within 14 points of Blinn. A 5-0 run kept Blinn on top 61-40 with three minutes remaining. Cisco gained momentum at the end of the quarter to finish on a 9-2 run.

Blinn will resume conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 31 against Kilgore College at 5:30 p.m. on the road. Earlier this season, Blinn and Kilgore played a close game that resulted in a 79-77 win for Kilgore.
