BUC WOMEN SHAKE OFF RUST TO BEAT BOSSIER PARISH, 63-55

Buccaneers play first game since Jan. 25 due to consecutive forfeits victories

 

BOSSIER CITY, La. – In its first game in 10 days, Blinn College women’s basketball understandably had to shake off some early rust to hold off Bossier Parish Community College for a 63-55 road win Saturday afternoon.

The Buccaneers won their two previous games by forfeit and now improve to 16-7 overall and 9-4 in Region XIV play.

Ke’Asia Williams was able to take what the defense gave her and scored 17 points to lead Blinn. Jasmine Redmon chipped in 10, Jade Rochelle added nine points while Jasline Chandler and Brenisha Coleman each scored eight in the win.

Blinn came out a bit rusty and only scored 10 points in the opening quarter and trailed 11-10 after one. The rust wore off in the second quarter as the Buccaneers bounced back with 21 points in the period and led 31-27 at the half.

The Buccaneers couldn’t really pull away from Bossier Parish but hit timely shots in the second half and held a 46-40 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Blinn outscored Bossier Parish 17-15 in the final quarter to claim the eight-point victory.

Blinn will play its next three games on the road starting with an away game at Panola College on Feb. 8 at 5:30 p.m. Panola is currently 7-5 through 12 games in the Region XIV standings.
