The loss snaps an eight-game winning streak for the Buccaneers as Blinn’s overall record falls to 13-6 and 6-3 in Region XIV play.

“We played defense really well for 25 seconds of each possession but then Jacksonville seemed to hit a timely shot at the end of the shot clock,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. “During conference play, you have to be able to play half-court offense.”

Daikea Milton led Blinn with 16 points while Ke’Asia Williams pitched in 14. Jade Rochelle reached double figures with 10 and Jasmine Redmon chipped in nine points.

Momentum went back and forth in the opening quarter. Blinn scored six straight points with four coming from Milton to give the Buccaneers a 15-9 lead. Milton led Blinn with six points as the Buccaneers held a 17-14 lead after the first.

Blinn struggled with its offense in the second quarter and only scored eight points in 10 minutes. Five of those points were scored by Milton but the second quarter belonged to Jacksonville. Blinn was outscored 18-8 as Jacksonville held a 32-25 lead at the half.

Blinn played much better offensively in the third quarter, scoring 21 points. Williams and Milton each scored five points but couldn’t gain much ground on Jacksonville as the visiting Jaguars led 52-46 at the end of the third.

The closest Blinn could get in the fourth was after a 6-1 run capped by a put back by Rochelle to get within 63-60. That would be the final points scored by the Buccaneers as Jacksonville added five more points to win by eight. Rochelle, Williams and Redmon each scored four points in the fourth for Blinn.

Blinn will hit the road in six of its next seven games starting with a road game at Tyler Junior College Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m.
