BUC WOMEN’S HOOPS PICK UP TWO WINS BY FORFEIT

The Blinn Buccaneer women’s basketball team will pick up a pair of wins this week, and won’t have to even take the floor.

Due to a bench-clearing fracas between Trinity Valley and Kilgore, the two teams will forfeit their next two Region XIV conference games.  Those happen to be the next two scheduled opponents for the Blinn Buccaneers.

According to Trinity Valley’s team website, the forfeits are a result of all players from both teams being ejected in a game Wednesday night at Kilgore College.

Midway through the third quarter, an altercation occurred, resulting in players from both teams leaving the bench and jumping onto the court.

Following the ejection of all players from both teams, officials suspended the game. The NJCAA has declared the game a no contest.

NJCAA rules state in the event of an ejection for a violent action, which leaving the bench during an on-court incident is considered, a player is suspended for two games.

The Buccaneers were scheduled to face Trinity Valley in Athens, Saturday at 2 p.m., resulting in the forfeit.  Kilgore had to forfeit their game against San Jacinto scheduled for Saturday, and their game against Blinn that was scheduled for Wednesday.

With the forfeits, Blinn improves its record to 15-7 -- 8-4 in Region XIV play.

The Buccaneers will be off until next Saturday when they travel to Bossier Parish, LA for a 2 p.m. game.
