Former Blinn College and Navasota High School standout Brateicka Mock will be back in Buccaneer blue this season – this time as an assistant coach.

A two-year starter for head coach Jeff Jenkins 2008-10, Mock ranks ninth on the Buccaneers’ all-time scoring list with 767 career points, including 413 as a sophomore. She earned all-conference and all-region honors and was named the Don Wilhelm Most Valuable Player Award winner in both her freshman and sophomore campaigns.

After two years at Blinn, Mock went on to play at Lamar University, then began her coaching career at Hillsboro High School.

“When you have players that are really good kids then you always have them in the back of your mind as a possible coach,” Jenkins said. “Mock really loved the game when she was here and everybody on campus really liked her.”

Mock will take on many duties at Blinn, including recruiting and serving as strength and conditioning coach.

“Being a coach was something that I realized I wanted to do at an early age of playing basketball,” Mock said. “I had pretty good coaches growing up and they were all positive influences on me.”

Blinn opens its season Nov. 3 when it hosts Temple College at the Blinn P.E. Building.
