All 12 players scored for Blinn

T.J. Distefano added 13 points to the Bucs victory.

BRENHAM, Texas – In its last non-conference game of the season, Blinn College men’s basketball got a contribution from all 12 players in a 97-54 victory over Schreiner JV Wednesday night inside the P.E. Building.
The easy victory helps the Buccaneers improve to 15-10 overall and stay at 5-9 in Region XIV play.
“It was our bye week so instead of taking the week off we scheduled this game and all of our guys got to play,” said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach.
Blinn had six players in double figures, led by Kobe Wrice with 14 points. Curtlon Wesley and T.J. Distefano each had 13 points. LaKendric Hyson finished with 12 points while Jarius Kesee and Tyrus Grayson each scored 10 points in the win.
“We came out and wanted to play hard to show coach that we do listen to him,” Wesley said. “We need everyone to step up their game for this final stretch of the season.”
Blinn did finish the game just three points shy of 100 but the Buccaneers struggled in the first three minutes in scoring only two points. After that it was all Blinn as the Buccaneers jumped to a 52-12 lead at the half.
Wrice led with 12 points in the opening half while Hyson chipped in eight points.
Schreiner came out in the second half and found some buckets but Blinn was able to maintain its lead. Distefano hit some shots from the outside to score 10 while Wesley was attacking the basket to score 10 points as well. The Buccaneers were able to cruise to the 43-point victory.
Blinn will get back into conference play on Saturday, Feb. 18 when it hosts Coastal Bend College at 4 p.m. Coastal Bend is currently 2-13 through 15 games in Region XIV play.
