Blinn College sophomore Peyton Webb was named the Region XIV Conference Softball Player of the Week for Feb. 16-22.

Webb, a Montgomery High School graduate, batted .600 (6-for-10) with three doubles, a home run, six RBI and five runs scored in three games. During that stretch, the Buccaneers defeated No. 1-ranked Wallace State Community College twice and 12th-ranked Iowa Western Community College.

On the season, Webb is batting .421 with 24 hits, 18 runs scored, 17 RBI and 10 walks.

The Buccaneers won four games this past weekend at the Temple Tournament, including wins against third-ranked Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (4-1), sixth-ranked Butler Community College (11-1) and 15th-ranked McLennan Community College (10-0).

Blinn travels to Georgia Friday to compete in the NFCA Leadoff Classic, an invitation-only tournament that welcomes the nation’s top teams. The Bucs won the tournament in 2011.
