San Jacinto eliminates Blinn in extra innings, 12-4
Buccaneers were able to tie game in the ninth but San Jacinto broke game open in 11th
SUGAR LAND, Texas – Again Blinn College baseball was able to get a ninth inning comeback but it was San Jacinto College-North coming through in extra innings with eight runs in the 11th for a 12-4 victory Monday afternoon in the Region XIV Tournament at Skeeter Park in Sugar Land.
The loss ends the season for Blinn as the Buccaneers finished with a 28-26 overall record and essentially finishing third in the Region XIV Tournament.
Cullen Jozwiak and Patrick King each had a double and single in the game while King added an RBI in the ninth that helped Blinn stay alive in the game. Jager Toffan and Ben Upton each had an RBI in the loss.
Blinn was able to jump on top starting in the first inning when Jozwiak singled and King walked. Upton drove in the first run with a ground out and then King later scored on an error for a 2-0 early lead.
The lead expanded in the third inning as Jozwiak again started it with a double and then Toffan drove him in with a single in the infield for a 3-0 lead. The momentum shifted after that as San Jacinto scored a single run in the fourth and tied the game with two runs in the sixth to make the score 3-3.
San Jacinto took a slim lead in the ninth with a single run to make the score 4-3 but Blinn would not go down without a fight. Walker Winders started a rally with a one-out single and Conner Smith came in to pinch run and later scored on a double by King to right to knot the game at 4-4. Blinn was unable to get the winning run in the ninth and then San Jacinto exploded with eight runs in the 11th to put the game away and end the season for Blinn.
