BUCS SPLIT GALVESTON TWINBILL
Webb slams Buccaneers to 4-1 victory
The seventh-ranked Blinn softball team fell victim to a seventh-inning grand slam as Galveston College rallied to an 11-9 victory in Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader.
In Game 2, Buccaneer sophomore Peyton Webb responded with a four-run shot of her own as Blinn responded with a 4-1 win over the Lady Whitecaps at Hohlt Park.
Following singles from Alli Spivey and Delilah Pacheco and a walk by Marissa Purcell, Webb launched a 1-0 pitch over the center field wall to give Blinn a 4-0 lead.
Freshman pitcher Jaiden Rawls took the Bucs the rest of the way with seven innings of one-run ball tossed in the circle.
Galveston’s lone run in the game came on a home run in the top of the fourth.
Webb was 1-for-4 with four RBI, and Spivey, Pacheco, Sydney Wellmann, Rawls and Taylor Guidry each had hits.
After Blinn (19-7, 2-2 Region XIV) exploded for a six-run inning in the bottom of the sixth of the first game, Galveston responded with a seven-run seventh to steal the victory.
Wellmann went 4-for-4 with four RBI in Game 1, including a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth that tied the game at 4.
Taylor Guidry had two hits and scored a run, and Pacheco and Spivey were each 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
