BUILDER TALKS ABOUT NEW TREATMENT FACILITY

Randall Bryant

Randall Bryant, who is the lead person involved with the construction of a state care facility for youth near the Brenham State Supported Living Center, is scheduled to meet Wednesday with County Judge John Brieden and several other elected officials.  Brieden said that he has received numerous calls from people wanting to attend, but said it is not a public meeting and he needs to keep the number attending small.  Bryant says that he wants it to be an informative meeting:

Bryant said that he understands the concerns of the community after the problems with the Five Oaks Achievement Center in New Ulm.  He said the Brenham facility will only be taking in children who have gone through trauma and who want to be helped.

The treatment program to be utilized is called Trust-Based Relational Intervention and was developed at Texas Christian University.  Bryant said that he want the children at the facility to be part of the community:

Bryant said that if construction and licensing of the facility stays on track, they may be able to accept the first youth in the fall of this year.  Bryant added that he and his partners are building the facility to serve the youth that need help.  He said it's not a bunch of Houston investors looking to get rich quick, but local people wanting to treat youth that have been through a traumatic experience.
