BUILDING AND STANDARDS TO HEAR UPDATE ON ST. ANTHONY BUILDING

The Building and Standards Commission will meet on Thursday to get an update on the St. Anthony Laundry Building in Brenham.209 S Market feature

In a previous meeting, the Building and Standards Commission made an agreement with John Elford, the owner of Elford Building Corporation. The Commission said they would give Elford a six weeks probation period once he became the owner of the building to begin work to make it structurally sound.

Elford is expected to present the Commission with a detailed plan, so that they will be able to measure the progress of the building.

The building has sustained weather damage due to holes where windows used to be located. After years of exposure, the roof collapsed causing the building to be classified as an “unsafe structure”.

The Building and Standards Commission will meet on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. in the second floor council chambers in City Hall.
