BUILDING CONTINUES TO BE BRISK IN BRENHAM

Building in Brenham continues at a brisk pace so far this year, even as there was a decline in February in building permits.

The city issued $1.386 million in building permits last month.  That was down from the $3.76 million in building permits issued for  January.  So far this year the city has issued $5.1 million in building permits, up considerably from last year at this time when the city has issued only $1.2 million in building permits.

A new housing subdivision is spurring on building in Brenham.  Of the 28 permits issued in February almost all were for residences. Two homes going up in the 2100 block of Timberline had permits of $153,000 an d$109,000.

City building officials believe the subdivision building will keep the permits up for the next several months.
