BURLESON CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE FINDS CREDIT CARD SKIMMING DEVICES

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office is warning drivers to check their bank and credit card accounts after finding credit card skimmers in the area.

Authorities say a maintenance worker found credit card skimmer devices at fuel pumps in the county Thursday.

Credit card skimming is when a thief uses a small device to steal credit card information in an otherwise legitimate credit or debit card transaction. When a credit or debit card is run through a skimmer, the device captures and stores all the details stored in the card's magnetic strip.

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office didn’t reveal the location of the devices found since it is an ongoing investigation.

  1. Why would you not tell us where they were found? It sure would save having to chase down charge statements early.
