BURLESON COUNTY JAILERS RESPOND TO INMATE LAWSUIT

An attorney for three Burleson County Jailers has filed a response to a federal lawsuit filed against them by a former inmate alleging poor treatment at the Burleson County jail in 2012.

Attorney Joanna Lippman Salinas filed a response on October 2nd on behalf of the defendants Peter Kuehn, Justin Martin and Courtney Posey in response to the August 27 lawsuit filed by Douglas Adams, Jr.

Adams objected to the way he was restrained in the jailed, according to the filings. Adams said he was handcuffed and later restrained to a chair in a manner he considered excessive. Adams also stated that his troubles began after he helped other inmates file grievances about jail conditions, the filing stated.

He is seeking $50,000 in compensatory damages, $30,000 in punitive damages, and $10,000 in nominal damages from each defendant, according to the filing.

The defendants deny the allegation.
