BURN BANS IN EFFECT IN MOST BRAZOS VALLEY COUNTIES

Brazos and Montgomery Counties today enacted burn bans, today (Tuesday).

The list of counties in the area who are already under burn bans include:
Austin, Grimes, Lee, Waller, Milam, Robertson, Leon, Madison and Walker Counties.

This leaves Washington County as the only county in the Bazos Valley without a burn ban in place.

Fire officials are advising everyone in the state use extreme caution.

  1. CHR RESIDENT, my sentiments exactly.
Glad you too are commenting. I disagree with the Decision and am very disappointed in the manner this is being handled. This is really waking up a lot of county residents to the future.

  2. Come on Judge/Commissioners!!! This is how bad things begin!! We don’t want to be the county where a large wildfire starts due to lack of action on our officials. I’m fairly sure our county officials are not smarter than every other set of officials in southeast TX, so they should get off their back sides and declare a burn ban!! Let’s not put our families, our neighbors and our first responders at risk!! Under Texas statute, Judge Brieden is empowered to declare a ban on his own without anyone else’s approval. So what’s the holdup?????

    1. I agree but don’t give notice where people think they need to run out and burn brush before ban begins.

    2. So do we really need the “Government” to tell us when we are “allowed” to burn brush, etc? People, use common sense and don’t burn a brush pile just because the county officials “allow” us to. It’s dry. Wait until we receive some rain. Is it that complicated? The death of common sense and people thinking for themselves is sad to see.
