BURTON ISD BOARD APPROVES SCHOOL SALE
The Burton School Board has accepted an offer of nearly a quarter-million dollars for the old elementary school.
At a special meeting, the board approved selling the building to American Kinetics for $245-thouand.
However, American Kinetics has been granted a 100-day grace period in which they will perform “more exploration and studies” to insure the property meets their requirements.
Superintendent James Palmer says the company has a number of businesses including metal work and recycling.
The facility has been up for sale for several years, ever since the district constructed a new school.
Palmer says the money—if the sale goes through—will be placed in the fund balance, and the trustees will eventually decide what to do with the money.
