BURTON LADY PANTHERS DROP OPENER TO LEXINGTON

The Burton Lady Panthers took Lexington to the limit before falling to the Lady Eagles, three-games-to-two, in the 2014 season opener.

The Lady Panthers (0-1) won the opening game, 25-15, but Lexington came storming back with wins in the next two games, 25-15 and 25-23.  Burton stayed alive with a 26-24 win in game four.  The Lady Eagles took game five, 15-13 and get the hard-fought win.

Blaire Smith led the Lady Panthers in kills with 13 and added seven digs.  Kyeanna Kincade added nine kills.  Alli Rosenbaum had five kills and six digs, while Emma Broesche also had six digs.

The Lady Panthers will be in tournament action this weekend at the Huntsville Varsity Tournament.

Pool play begins Thursday morning, with the Lady Panthers facing: Byran at 11:00; Tarkington at Noon; and Conroe at 2:00.
