BURTON MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON TIME

A Burton man has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to a family violence charge.

27-year old Norman Wayne Gant was arrested back on September 15th of last year on a charge of Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family member.  The charge was enhanced to a third-degree felony.

Gantt plead guilty in 21st District Court and was sentenced by District Judge Carson Campbell.

Gantt was also sentenced to three years in prison on a felony conviction for Credit Card Abuse.

40-year old Charity Faith Holder had her probation revoked and was sentenced to 14 months behind bars on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Holder was originally arrested in February of 2013, and was arrested again this past Wednesday.

She was also fined $1000 and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.

54-year old Florence Claire Jackson of Brenham was sentenced to two years in prison after her probation was revoked for a 2002 arrest for Retalliation.

65-year old Vernon Lee Murphy of Texarkana was placed on eight years’ probation and fined $750 on a felony charge of Possession of Marijuana.

Murphy was also ordered to perform 300 hours of community service.

23-year old Crispin Wade Contee of Brenham was placed on four years’ probation for Possession of a Controlled Substance.  He was fined $1500 and ordered to perform 160 hours of community service.

And, 25-year old Ryan Lee Cole of Chappell Hill was sentenced to one year in the Washington County Jail for a misdemeanor assault charge.
