BURTON SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES JOINT ELECTION

  

The Burton School Board met on Monday to approve a Joint Election Agreement with Washington County.

The agreement is needed because the Burton ISD will be holding a bond election on November 8th, the same day as the general election.Burton School Board feature

The school district is asking voter to approve the $18 million in bonds to be used for facility improvements including additional classrooms, expanded science labs, a new band hall and increasing cafeteria and kitchen space. A new high school competition gym is planned where the current football field is located and a new football field with an 8 lane track is proposed for the area north-west of the current field.

The School Board also scheduled their “Team of 8” training to be held on October 17th. The purpose of the training session is to help the School Board work together as effectively as possible.

The Burton School Board also approved to change the age requirement for senior citizen passes to fifty; recognized October as School Priority Month; and approved election officials.
