BURTON SCHOOL BOARD SETS GOALS FOR PRINCIPALS AND AD

The Burton School Board again held an Executive Session to consider the contracts for the two School Principals and the Athletic Director Monday evening, and again they took no action to extend their contracts.  But they did presents some goals they want each to attain and provided some explanation to the public for their inaction.  Board President Demetrius Colvin said they have been overwhelmed by public concerns over the contracts and wanted to take the time to work through each.  The goals that set forth for the positions include:

For Athletic Director Jason Hodde: Work with the Elementary School programs and the Girls programs and assist in finding suitable coaches for the various sports.

For Elementary School Principal Melinda Fuchs: Provide fair and consistent leadership and discipline, maintain a clean and orderly campus, and provide teacher recommendations appropriate to the needs of the district.

For High School Principal Karen Steenken: Be here and do her job, and implement discipline for teachers and students to hold them accountable.

The contracts for all three currently run until the end on the next school year.  The board plans to revisit the contracts before that time and review how each has done with their goals.

The Burton School Board also received a letter of resignation from board member Brian Jaeger.  He stated that he is resigning immediately from the board and withdrawing from the May 5th election so that he could devote his complete attention to something in his personal life.  That leaves three candidates running for the two at-large positions on the board: Incumbent, Ande Bostain and challengers Tracey Cox and David Warner Sr.

The board also accepted two teacher resignations: 2nd grade teacher Pamela Dunlap is resigning for personal reasons and High School English teacher Cara Coghlan is resigning because her husband is being transferred.  Three new teachers were also hired for next year: Katie Kieke, Carl Faigle and James Little.

In other action, Superintendent Edna Kennedy reviewed for the board some of the items they will consider in the upcoming budget process.  She noted that this District’s school busses are in constant need of repair and that they have applied for a grant from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for two 59 passenger busses and one 77 passenger bus.  The grant won’t be awarded until September, so the District may need to budget for the purchase this summer.  She said the old busses will need to be replaced regardless of whether the District receives the grant or not.

The next Burton School Board meeting has tentatively been moved up a week to Monday, May 14th.  At that meeting, the votes from the May 5th school board election will be canvased and officers for the board will be voted on.

  1. This school and parents is running away good teachers and coaches. When a coach does all the work then another coach steps in and trys to take over and has not been to one game how can he know how to vote. Just saying.

  2. Once again there is a war going on in Burton. I hope you understand this war has been going on for a very long time. The old versus the new generation, the outsiders versus the clickish people in this town. It once was the Brenham people versus the Burton people. But the real problem is the Burton people as you click with certain groups and all while you fight each other as time goes on your town is falling apart and your school is falling apart. You always say I’m a tax payer or my taxes are too high or I’ll leave if my taxes go up. I find funny all of you are so worried about yourself yet you say you are for something but yet never find a solution to the fighting. You are supposed to be about the kids and the future but you are not. Meanwhile piece by piece your town will die and your kids will moved to another school because you failed to enhance your town and school. Who are you going to blame then. You have not taken responsibility for anything but yet blame anyone who doesn’t agree with the agenda. The lies that have been told, the small town identity politics you play, the bashing of each other as well as those who to come up with solutions. You have failed and with that failure you don’t deserve the town of Burton nor do you deserve a school. You all deserve to have nothing because you have decided not to work together. No matter who is doing what the problem has been here for decades and yet you do nothing except what you have been brought up to do is fight with each other and do nothing. I hope the state investigates the town and the school. I would say it is not mismanagement but agenda driven because to control a thing means to have power over it. Finally, at some point as people leave this town and school I guess you all can control yourselves into nothing as families die off there will nothing left all because you resent each other and your jealousy holds no bounds. At some point in the future I too will leave this place that I called home because all of you chose to maintain your selfishness instead of the future.

  3. Shame on this board! You are in total violation of statute and should be reported to TEA. All of these administrators should hire personal attorneys to fight this and they will win! It’s obvious this school board needs to follow the statue that regulates school board meetings or resign. This board is a disgrace! You are completely OUT OF LINE and giving Burton ISD a bad name. PITIFUL BOARD! You are an embarrassment to our community and our school!

  4. In all seriousness why doesn’t KWHI have a candidates forum for the upcoming board election? By reading the comments the community is very passionate about several topics. A forum would be a great opportunity for candidates to let the tax payers and community know what their goals are for the school, let everyone what where they stand on topics. We have forums for other elections so why not for the Burton ISD board election?

  5. Obviously, people are in an uproar since the latest board meeting. The three new candidates (including myself) attended. Ask us what was discussed. There is always more to the story that what is read in the news. The community requested the board to explain the reason the three contracts had not been extended. The people have a right to know; the board was asked to explain. Other than the “goals” discussed, many positive things were said about the three individuals.
I’ve taught in four different districts, and they all have their problems. Burton is no different. Nevertheless, people from all sides have real concerns and real emotions (often disguised as “vendettas”) when there are in fact legitimate issues that need to be addressed. Burton’s problems are solvable, and I’m running for school board to help solve them.
Having said all that, in truth, Burton was the best place I ever taught in, so no one should be afraid to come here. It was also a good place for my son. He enjoyed his childhood. Is Burton perfect? No, but I have no regrets. If you see something that needs to change then get in the “mess” with us, and let’s get to work.

    1. Tracey, I will ask you. As a candidate, do think the boards concerns are enough for the administrators contracts not be extended?

          1. First of all it’s not the boards job to set goals for the admistrators, that is the superintendents job. And if the superintendent is getting a 1 year extension on top of 2 years left on her contract did the board set goals for her?
So if her goals are being met, shouldn’t one of the goals be, making sure the administrators are meeting their goals. So if the administrators are not meeting their goals then the superintendent is not doing her job. Maybe the superintendent should be there and do her job.

      1. Thank you for asking. As you know, I wasn’t privy to the information discussed during executive session, so I don’t know the details. I do know that the taking of “no action” on contracts is unusual for the board. I worked under some of these board members. I taught their children. I believe they were acting in good faith and felt they had to act based on concerns that had been brought to their attention. I honestly don’t know what those concerns were other than what was included in the “goals”. Based on the demeanor of the board members, they had a difficult time doing this, but they have a job to do. I don’t mean to sound like a vague politician, but I can only form an opinion based on what I saw for myself. There was no enjoyment by the board in any of this, so yes, in my opinion, they must have been justified. I hope you will come to future board meetings. (I will keep an eye out for the distinguished man in the cowboy hat.) It would be great to have so many members of the community attend that we have to move the meetings back to the cafeteria. In the future, I will hopefully be elected and have access to more information so that I can have a more informed opinion. At that time, I welcome the chance to better answer your question.

        1. Thank you both for your answers! While I would love to question both of you further about your opinions on the school issues and your future vision for the schools future it just isn’t fair to do it on here. A candidate forum is the way to go in an open setting.

PS- maybe if the board would be more inviting by moving the meetings to the auditorium there would more visitors to the board meetings.

  6. People have a job to do if it doesn’t get done change is needed…complacent

  7. Our number one goal is our students.
    Everyone has room for improvement.
When we say we have done everything to our best ability to teach and administer to our kids, then that’s all we can do.
But we, as parents, teachers, administrators and anyone involved with kids, need to reevaluate what we are doing and set new goals in our lives.

  8. After reading the article in the Banner Press yesterday concerning this same Board meeting and the comments made about 3 administrators, it is perfectly clear that the Board is not informed of what actually goes on in the district. I feel it is important that Board members attend school functions at all levels (not just something their child is participating in). How else would you know first hand what is actually going on? Right now the Board appears to be acting upon complaints by people with personal agendas against some staff. For instance, the AD needs to assist the elementary, help the girls athletic program, and hire suitable coaches. And the Board president said the Brenham AD has to assist with elementary so the Burton AD should do that too. Really??? We are comparing a small school district to a large district? The Burton AD teaches a full academic schedule and is head of his department. He’s not just a coach or PE teacher or AD. Burton AD coaches football and track. Does the Brenham AD teach any academic classes and coach several sports? And what’s really funny is the Burton AD met with the elementary PE teachers last year and they came up with a plan for the 2017-2018 school year to bump up the elementary program. The Burton AD stepped up and assisted the girls programs this past year when help was needed. The Burton AD always recruits and looks for qualified girls coaches. Ask him how difficult it is to get anybody to come to Burton and ask him why. So looks like the Burton AD already met the 3 “goals” that were assigned him Monday night! Definite lack of communication going on in this district and it’s making Burton ISD look bad. As for retaining highly qualified teachers in Burton, who would want to come to Burton now? The Board President has slandered the 3 administrators, the custodial staff, and every teacher by the “goals” he announced to the public. How are any of the current staff going to get a job elsewhere when he’s said negative things about them. Those silly “goals” for the 3 administrators has effected the whole district negatively. Just because somebody said it don’t mean it’s true!!! Prayers for the district! You didn’t deserve what’s happened to you!

    1. Praise the Lord! Kay you brought out so many key points. You hit the nail on the head. I few bad apples that continuously complaint are influencing the board with out the board checking out the situation themselves!! That being said there is a person in the executive session that knows the truth.

    2. Kay, it seems like you know a lot about the AD and have a lot of inside information about what he’s been doing. You can’t compare his duties to the AD in Brenham. The AD in Brenham oversees ALOT more athletes than Burton’s does. And for such a small school, Burton has alot of male coaches for the boys events so it’s not like he’s doing his duties alone. Burton does need alot of help when it comes to the girls program. I tend to think that program is overlooked for football. What’s going to happen next year when Burton loses their key players, is that program then going to be overlooked as well?

  9. These types of comments against the staff should not have been aired publicly. This is a closed door matter. Think it out next time.

  10. With posts like these basically stating that the elementary principal isn’t recommending teachers that meet the needs of students and stating the high school principal isn’t doing well with discipline, do they think a highly qualified, well experienced teacher will even apply for employment at this district? What it tells me is that the qualified teachers will try to get out of the mess and find a district that’s not such a disaster. I wouldn’t want to be associated with something that seems like it’s going to get worse before it can get better.

    1. Wondering, I believe in the next few days weeks and months a lot of skeletons will start jumping out of the closets. It is my forsight that you find there is an issue and it may not be with the Administrator’s. Please just sit back and watch.

  11. I think it is sad that board members with personal vendettas are allowed to remain on the board with the jobs of our administrators in their hands. They should be there to do what is best for our students and our district. They should set attainable goals and not vague statements for the administrators. Why should our AD have anything to do with elementary students? The Athletic Director should be just that – the director of athletics. The high school principal is always at sporting events and school functions. She is 100% invested in making a difference in her students’ lives everyday.

  12. I am here at both baseball game and softball game this evening. The board members who made the decisions and comments last night are not here. Maybe they should attend school functions and see that the community backs are administration and coaches.

    1. Ole Renegade, first off the administration and AD are paid and probably have in their contract something to the extent about being at sporting events. I was at the games too. I’ve been to volleyball and basketball games during regular district play and haven’t seen the AD there but school board members were there. People have lives, the school board members volunteer their time, they are not required to attend every sporting event. Not every school board member needs to go, those who won’t speak up for the benefit of the students education need to go. Just my opinion!

      1. Well then you are sadly mistaken! I have seen the high school principle and AD at games. Your AD is also the head football coach that has taken the football to the state semi finals 2 years in a row. Sorry I’m sure he wasn’t at home. You think the Elem admin gets paid to attend high school sporting events? Lol! I believe Mrs Fuchs has her hands full and does an awesome job!!! Confused I will be at the baseball game in Somerville Friday. I will have the cowboy hat on I welcome you to join be in enjoying a great game.

      2. Well in retrospect, Chambers board members volunteer their “time” and are asked to be at ribbon cutting ceremonies, public events, etc. Their title is for the best interest of “the county people”.
Your asked to be on the school board due to having the best interest of staff AND students.
To blasphemy your OWN schools leaders and give your personal vandettas is demoralizing to the entire school.
How many times have these leaders been pulled to the side and sat down with to go over these so called “problems”? What procedures are being taken to improve the problem?
Are we going to ask the AD to be running everywhere? To be involved with Every school?

Does the Elementary teacher not keep her school clean, organized? Does the not do her job?

As for high school principal, your saying she’s never at work? But she’s dedicated how many years to bettering the Burton school district to be slapped in the face by the board and not even allowed an interview as a superintendent? Someone who attends every school function her students have.
How many band marching competitions have anyone on the board been to?
I’m hoping the SI is also attending?

Let’s not let these in sheeps clothing shadow over the light these leaders have built over time because these board members and SI are inwardly ravening wolves.

I’m sure there will be plenty of Skelton’s coming out of closets very soon

  13. I personally know all three of the individuals whose contract were not extended as they should be. This is a complete and utter failure of the school board in my opinion. I am not understanding what the school board is seeing that is so wrong. You have high school students excelling on all levels including academics, you have some athletic teams going to state tournaments and an elementary that excels in academics and caring for the communities children. To me it all goes back to personal agendas the school board members take into executive session time after time. It is time as payers that we stand up to the steel curtain of executive session and demand board members to speak out in public. It is also very unprofessional for the administrators to have to wake up to see what their new “goals” that were published in the media. The board should really take a step back and examine what a poor move that was.I’m sure that there could be some legal consequences for that mistake. People in the community wonder why teachers leave Burton, maybe they should go in and look at the salaries. You can drive 20 minutes down the road and make a tremendous amount more money. It happens every day. I could go on and on about the faults and mistakes the school board has made and will continue to make. They are quick to point the finger at middle-management but in the corporate world the buck stops at the top! Community members and tax payers should stand up and let’s make some changes on the school board.

  14. Ok, I love Burton! I am deeply saddened by decisions being made by our school board. First off, our athletic department has excelled in almost every sport which is not typical for a small school. That should at least say something about our AD and his coaches. The school board and the community need to put their personal issues aside and look at how successful our athletic department is!

As far as the high school principal not being at work…she is allowed so many days off a year. She should be allowed to take them. If there is an issue compare her days off and punctuality with the superintendent. You may actually be surprised at the results!

Our school board needs to be reevaluated and decide what is best for our children and not the small town politics. When that happens the staff will be more efficient and start to enjoy coming to work and helping our children learn.

Everyone needs to put their personal feelings aside and take a good hard look at our school then compare it to others. I think Burton is doing a great job!

Thank you Mrs. Steeken, Jason Hodde, and all of the staff for all the EXTRA time you put in with our children!

    1. What’s important? I thought school was about academics! Why don’t we worry more about excellence in academics and quit worrying so much about athletics? Don’t get me wrong, yes kids love sports but what’s going to help them in the future? What they learned on the field or what they learn in the classroom? Thank goodness we are all entitled to our own opinions. I’m more concerned with my children learning morals, manners and having knowledge to succeed in the future.

      1. Look at our athletes!!!! They not only excel in athletics but also in academics. The same goes for our kids that are involved in band, yearbook, theater and the ag program. Mr. Herr has taken kids to judging contest, public speaking and ag mechanics contest…Coach Ramsey has taken a great group of kids to UIL academic competitions…Mr. Silcox just got back from UIL band competition…Mrs. Hodde works with kids getting Microsoft certified, developing computer skills that will be useful in college or in the workforce…Mrs. Eckert works with our kids in BBAY…we ARE building well rounded students. If you build up a kid in something he loves, he is going to excel in other areas of life. Sometimes change is needed…but don’t “throw out the baby with the bath water”. There are so many things that work well at Burton, we need fine tuning not an overhaul!!!! Too often we are quick to judge, we hear or listen to only one side of the story and form an opinion without hearing the whole truth.

        Don’t Just

        Don’t just learn, experience.
        Don’t just read, absorb.
        Don’t just change, transform.
        Don’t just relate, advocate.
        Don’t just promise, prove.
        Don’t just criticize, encourage.
        Don’t just think, ponder.
        Don’t just take, give.
        Don’t just see, feel.
        Don’t just dream, do.
        Don’t just hear, listen.
        Don’t just talk, act.
        Don’t just tell, show.
        Don’t just exist, live.”
        ― Roy T. Bennett

      2. You would be wise not to underestimate what is learned “on the field.” Education is obviously important, but there are meaningful lessons learned “on the field.” When done correctly, “the field” is a critical part of young people’s education and development. Athletics teaches children a great many things, – such as honor, discipline, self-control and accountability. They learn in an applied way that hard work, effort, practice, initiative and positive attitude lead to success and improvement. They see that the laziness and bad attitudes are ruinous. Children learn to handle success, as well as coping with failure and disappointment. They learn to win with humility, and how to accept defeat gracefully. When they lose or fail, they learn to pick themselves up and go on. They learn that losing or disappointment is temporary. They learn it’s not all about them, – and that being a part of something larger than themselves can be very rewarding and meaningful. Student athletes learn to support and encourage their teammates, – often times above themselves. They learn to strive, achieve and thrive. They learn that in sports, just as in life, there are winners and losers – and that neither condition is permanent. They learn to compete. All of those intangibles can serve them well in the world when they leave school.

  15. Concerned parent—

We brought our kids into the Burton School District and we love it and the teachers. It is very bothersome to read this article and the comments that have followed it. Obviously there are some concerns out there and that is fine but it should be dealt with in confidence not made public and point these three individuals out like this. I have known two of these individuals for a very long time and they both come from great families and I have a great deal of respect for them. My children are in elementary and I have no complaints. I think this could be handled more appropriately.

  16. Seems like this district is a mess! If you are having to set goals for three people that are in authoritarian positions it makes one wonder what all is going on that the public doesn’t know about. I would be embarrassed if I were one of these individuals. Seems a bit elementary for this to be posted for everyone to see. Makes one wonder if the board isn’t trying to run these people out so they don’t have to worry about renewal of contracts. Looks like big changes are needed and one should hope they see some changes in the upcoming board election.

  17. “For High School Principal Karen Steenken: Be here and do her job…”?

Isn’t that understood to be a basic requirement of her job, of any job, really? If that has to be set as a goal for her then the contract should’ve been terminated long ago.

  18. Texas Education Code 21.355 states a document evaluating the performance of a teacher or administrator is confidential. (This also includes growth plans even if we call them “goals.”) It seems to me that the Board has broken that Code. The members of the Board must also adhere to the “Code of Ethics for School Board Members.” Under the section subtitled Integrity of Character, it states that the Board member will keep confidential information that is priveleged by law or that will needlessly harm the District if disclosed. Under the section Student-Centered Focus, it states that the Board member will be continuously guided by what is best for all students of the district. Under the section Equity in Attitude,” it states the Board member will be fair, just, and impartial in all decisions and actions. Is going to a local business and discussing personnel and confidential information following the Code of Ethics for School Board Members? Is serving on the school board because you dislike a faculty member for personal reasons and you vow to get them fired following the Code of Ethics for School Board Members? And one last thing to think about. If the principals and AD are not doing their jobs, it is the superintendent’s responsibility to put them on a growth plan. If the Superintendent didn’t do that, then why was her contract extended? Everything that happens in a school district ultimately is the responsibility of the superintendent. If there are so many things wrong, then why are you rewarding the superintendent? Oh maybe you put her on notice and actually kept it confidential as it should be. But then you still extended that contract! I salute all individuals that volunteer their time to serve on School Boards and the faculty and staff of the school district. But you must remember that you are there for all the children of the district and you must act accordingly!

    1. I commend you Kay! The airing of the dirty laundry is uncalled for. The board should be ashamed of themselves. They were so worried about getting off the hot plate because poor decisions that they didn’t know the water in the next pot over was even hotter!

    2. Totally agree with Kay, the goals should have not been discussed in open forum. It’s the superintendent job to set goals for the principals and AD, not the school board. The principals and AD do a great job and their contract should have be extended . The superintendent should support and back her employees and not let the board micromanage the school district. It’s time for change, need to elect the three new board members.

  19. Thanks to the school board for listening to the communities concerns on the administrative staff. May need to take a closer look at Dr. Kennedy’s contract and her evaluation.
Small town politics isn’t always fair. Change is hard. Often change is good.

    1. You so very correct. Change is coming…. On May 5th there will be big changes. Time for new people on the board. Ones that do not have personal agendas!

  20. I hope Burton is not making a mistake by not renewing some of these contracts. Not speaking for all of the admin in Burton, but one in particular…. she pours her heart and soul into this school, students, and community. Any school district would be lucky to have a leader like this one. My heart hurts for these educators as they wake to read these comments from the board…. I hope they know that they do have support from their community and friends as they finish up the year.

    1. For a school board to postpone the renewal of administrator, (principals, AD and supnt), contracts, it must feel that there are legitimate leadership issues that need to be addressed. Of course, it has taken the reins,(and the heat) from the Superintendent. The district has allowed a subversion of the actual, real and proper mission of public education: To prepare the child for life, and even better, to be a taxpayer. It has allowed flash-in-the-pan athletics to take precedence over long term educational substance.

Participating in state playoff athletic tournaments should not be the bar that a district is measured. Yet, it seems that this is the mission BISD is pursuing. Meanwhile, STEM, (and if we are to catch up to national trends, STEAM, which includes the arts), is left along the wayside, while we shut down the campus for planned celebrations of an anticipated victory.

When staff members do not get appropriate back up from administrators in regards to misbehaving students, that’s a leadership problem, too. It’s misguided to pander to parents, while holding teachers accountable for student performance without expecting students to do the same. When teachers and staff are disrespected, it leads to poor staff morale. That is the main reason teachers leave.

At least the board is seeing the light, and maybe even developing a balanced vision and mission for the district.

It may be too little, too late for some board members and maybe the baby gets thrown out with the bath water with this election, but those in power will now be on notice that the public is aware and expect results.

What we need is LEADERSHIP that would guide the students to excellence in manners, academics, skills, and community service. Support the staff and teachers with whatever they might need in their task to educate these kids, guided by the standard that is set by the administrator.

If you lead them, they will follow.

      1. Malaise you hit the nail on the head. Everyone wants to talk about the football team making it to the Semifinals and that’s great. However, I send my students to school to learn how to be successful in life. What’s happening with Burton students post secondary? What percentage is finishing their anticipated degree? Why is there no TRUE STEM program? Are these students prepared for college Science and Math courses? What kind of great things are happening academically in the high school? We keep talking about athletics. How many students will receive athletic scholarships? Why do we not hear of the great things happening academically? Is there anything in the high school? Are the students being taught morals, character and leadership skills? Maybe it’s time for the school board members to start researching what is happening in the high school classrooms? Maybe a better evaluation of what’s going on in EVERY CLASSROOM?

  21. I truly hope there are specifics that were left out and this is not what these three individuals were presented with. These goals appear to be very subjective at best. Goals typically have some very specific requirements to achieve and/or may have some sort of quantifiable objective to meet. Who decides if these unbelievably vague goals are reached?

“Work with elementary programs”. How often should he work with them and what should he do with them? Are you wanting him to be the full time elementary school coach? What are you trying to achieve by doing this?

“Maintain a clean and orderly campus”. This can be in the eye of the beholder, what’s clean to one person may not be to another. I would venture a guess that if you sent each member of the board into these facilities by themselves, at least one would say that it could be cleaner and at least one would say that it is clean enough. In this case you may be putting their job in the hands of the staff that is hired to clean the facilities and leaving it to that person’s judgement if the facilities are clean or not. If it’s not clean, shouldn’t you be addressing the maintenance staff instead of the principal?

“Be here and do her job, and implement discipline for teachers and students to hold them accountable”. This is an absolute train wreck of a goal. How in the world do you expect anyone to attempt to meet such a broad ranging statement as that? Accountable for WHAT? Being in class on time? Making sure they have plenty of paper and pencils? No running in the hallways?

As I said, hopefully there are more specifics included in those “goals” than what this article states. But from where I sit, it appears by keeping it vague you are making it easier on yourselves to justify a decision you may have already made.

    1. I read all these comments about the school board and think to my self, these comments come after the meeting has taken place. I used to serve on the board and I am running again to be on the board. Very seldom and I mean very seldom do I see any taxpayers or concerned citizens show up to a meeting and voice their opinion of what is happening within the school district. It is allowed at the beginning of each board meeting, each person is allowed 3 minutes to speak. Regular board meetings are the 3rd Monday of each month. And isn’t it odd that when these contracts are to be considered for the 3rd time this year 3 board members are absent and one of the 3 resigns.

      1. David, Why are you insinuating the resignation has anything to do with contracts? Why are you putting negative thoughts into peoples heads? Have you talked to him? Perhaps it might have to do with taking care of a sick family member, Personal illness, or something of that nature. Or perhaps, he wants no part of how a particular board member is allowed to behave. Point is, we shouldn’t assume. Especially from someone wanting on the board. This statement gives me more questions if things are going to get any better.

        1. Im running for school board to represent the taxpayers, if the taxpayers don’t come to the meetings how will they know what is happening at these meetings. I’m not insinuating anything just being informative. Since my earlier post I have learned that one of the board members is out on a mission project. In 2017 one of the board members only made 7 of 12 regular meetings, how can you represent the taxpayers if you miss almost half of the meetings.

      2. One of the board members is on a mission trip that he goes on EVERY year! I am pretty sure The dates are set a year in advance. Unfortunately, this year it fell when a board meeting was scheduled.
