The Burton school district is seeking voter approval to issue $18 million in bonds to help fund facility improvements. The bonds are needed for an extensive campus improvement plan. The plan includes additional classrooms, expanded science labs, increasing the cafeteria and kitchen space and a new band hall.  A new high school competition gym is also planned where the current football field is located. A new football field with an 8 lane track is proposed for the area north-west of the current field.

The bond election will take place on a November 8th, the same day as the general election. Because the two elections will be held on the same day, a Joint Election Agreement must be entered into by Washington County and Burton ISD.

The Board of Trustees will also consider changing the age requirements for Senior Citizen Passes; discuss making October “School Priority Month”; and consider the appointment of election officials.

The Burton School Board of Trustees will meet Monday, September 19th at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Administration Office located at 701 North Railroad Street in Burton.
