BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO DISCUSS OLD HIGH SCHOOL RENOVATIONS

The Burton Board of Trustees will meet on Monday at 6:30pm to discuss bids for the renovation of the old high school building.

The bidding, which began on Thursday, will be discussed by the trustees to see if the bidding falls within the school district’s budget.

The funds will come from a low interest federal loan the district received last year.

Part of the project for work on the old high school will include electrical, wheelchair accessibility and veneer repairs, and there has been some water damage in the school’s basement.

The Board will also consider a proposal to refinance $7 million in bond that were approved by the voters in 2007.

Dustin Traylor, of RBC Capital Markets will address the Board on how the district can save by refinancing the bonds at a lower interest rate.

The Burton School Board of Trustees will meet at the administrative building at 701 North Railroad St in Burton.
