BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO REVIEW SUPERINTENDENT MONDAY

The Burton School Board is scheduled to evaluate Superintendent Edna Kennedy’s performance and discuss her contract and salary during Executive Session at next Monday’s meeting.  Last year at this time, board members extended her contract until June of 2020 and set her salary at $111,568.  Dr. Kennedy has been with the District since February of 2015 when she took over for retiring Superintendent Jim Palmer.

Also on Monday’s agenda, trustees will consider several items dealing with the May 5 school board election.  This year, the positions currently held by Ande Bostain and Brian Jeager will be up for election.  Also, the position formerly held by Ronnie Hohlt is also expected to be on the ballot.  The board appointed Jeff Harmel to that positon last year after Hohlt began to work for the District and was forced to resign from the board.

Also on Monday’s agenda, trustees may discuss the Master Facilities Site Plan.  Burton voters rejected a bond issue in November of 2016 that would have added classrooms and a new football stadium.  The board has been looking at how they can reduce the cost next bond issue while still providing the facilities needed by Burton’s growing enrollment.

The Burton School Board meets Monday evening at 6:30 at the Administrative Office.

  1. If the school board votes to give her another raise, good luck getting re-elected!! There is no way that the superintendent of a school the size of Burton should have a salary this high!! Here’s a thought….leave her already enormous salary as is, and give a raise to the teachers who actually have to work teaching our children!! Give a raise to the custodians that clean up the school, the cafeteria staff that feeds our kids, you get where I’m going with this!! Raises for people that actually work, without having numerous assistance’s to do their work for them!! The superintendent is grossly over paid for what she does, and the size of our school. Especially when she contributes nothing back in the form of property taxes, etc.
